Tour Plan
Day 1: Fes to the Merzouga Desert
You will drive to the Saraha Desert of Merzouga by crossing the Middle Atlas range. Today your first stop will be in the Moroccan little Switzerland which is known for the lion sculpture and its European architecture style. We continue to cross the biggest green cedar forest in Morocco and get a stop opportunity to see the free Barbary apes in the forest. You will have lunch in Midelt town, which links the High Atlas Mountains and the Middle Atlas range. After the lunch break we depart towards the second-largest palm grove oasis in Morocco, the Ziz oasis here is the last stop before the most beautiful and fabulous sand dunes of Merzouga (Erg Chebbi), 150 meters high. Upon arrival to the hotel, you pack a small bag for the night in the camp, your luggage stays at the hotel and starts your camel ride to capture magical sunset in the middle of the dunes and spend the night at camp with tents.
Day 2: Merzouga Desert to the Dades Gorges
You will wake up early this morning to catch the spectacular sunrise at the top of the dunes before you ride the camels back to the hotel, where breakfast and a deserved nice hot shower await. We leave to the hotel to the small village of Khamliya, where the Berber nomads will perform a show of the typical Sudanese exotic dance. Then we drive to visit the local Market of Rissani (Sunday; Tuesday; Thursday) and cross the most mysterious Anti-Atlas Mountain towards the Toudra gorges. Here you will face one of the most impressive oases in the country, and sense a beautiful contrast of the landscapes. you are going to walk through the spectacular gorge where rocks towelling above 300m, while the passage is only 30m wide; famous for rock climbing. After the walk, we take The Road of thousand Kasbahs to reach Dades gorges.
Day 3: the Dades Gorges to Ait Benhaddou Kasbah
From Dades Gorges we will take an off-road jeep track to visit a nomad family that live in caves, have a Berber mint tea with them and see how nomads make their living in the middle of nowhere. We will keep driving on the same track to reach the rose valley which is known for its roses that get blooming from April to May. After then we take The Road to Skoura, a small oasis of palm groves and olives and Ouarzazate city the gateway to the desert and Hollywood of Africa, where you can visit the film studios. We continue forwards to the fortified Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is the birthplace of numerous films, including The Mummy, The Gladiator, 7 Days in Tibet, Lawrence of Arabia, Alexander the Great and Babel.
Day 4: Ait Benhaddou Kasbah to Marrakech
You will start your day with a nice walk to the fortified Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. You will drive along Asif Ounila Valley to visit another beautiful Kasbah; the Talouet Kasbah that was once served as a palatial residence and headquarters of the powerful Glaoui tribe. We continue our way through the High Atlas Mountains towards Marrakech via Tizi n’Tichka pass 2260m, one of the most beautiful roads of Morocco. There will be some stops for nice panoramic pictures along the way.
